Modular Scuba Valve Right or Left?
How do you know which modular scuba valve is the right-hand K-valve (or the outboard portion of a dual-orifice manifold) or the left-hand one?
The modular valve is unique that it can be used to build a manifold valve with the addition of the PSI Crossbar with Isolator
Here is how:
- First of all, look at the valve orifice, the output.
- Then, the side of the handwheel determines if it is a right or left hand valve.
Most people find it easier just to remember that when facing a valve, if the handwheel is on the left it is a left valve and if the handwheel is on the right it is a right valve. A “normal” K-valve is left-handed.
Modular Left K-valves mate with plug or crossbar sections whose threads turn opposite the “normal” direction. To indicate this, the plug or cross-bar lock nuts are notched.
